It was a long six weeks, especially negotiating the activity and diet restrictions while at school but we made it through. This photo was taken about four months post surgery. As you can see, she's happy and fully recovered!
I am a mother of a 7 year old daughter who will be having an alveolar bone graft in June. I came across your blog while I was researching about the surgery, hoping to find a parents point of view, and not just medical websites. Thank you very much for sharing this incredibly personal journey. Reading about your daughter's experience and recovery has been far more helpful than anything else I've read. I'm so glad your sweet daughter is doing great, and has set a great example for other children facing these same challenges. Thank you again for sharing.

Thank you so much for posting this. My nephew is having this surgery in a week and reading this has eased my mind and helped me understand more what he will be feeling and what his experience will be. Your daughter is so brave and beautiful.

My son is having this done in the next two weeks. I really wasn't sure what to expect and you have done a beautiful job explaining this to the rest of us. I so appreciate you and your beautiful daughter helping so many other children and parents navigate this surgery. You both are remarkable in helping others and allowing so many people to better understand the ups and downs. I was so happy to see how well your daughter handled the surgery and so happy that she is back to normal and all went well. You have no idea how much your site has helped our family and a huge thank you to you and your family.
